Eagle #9 – Hasentree #9 352 Yards

It has been way too long since I’ve had an eagle. I went on an eagle binge last July and haven’t had much action since. That changed on Sunday, April 24th, 2016. My favorite golf hole, to play, is Hasentree #9. It is a double fairway downhill par 4 that is very easy for anyone that has a strong inside 150 game. Well, I finally dunked it from the fairway.

So, there I was, minding my own business. Not really. Three of my buddies and I were playing a match against two scratch golfers and a 10 handicap. The threesome we were playing was the group in front of us. I was attempting to hit a 10 yard draw with my 5 wood to get to the lower fairway but ended up leaving it out to the right and having 130 yards in. This is a stock 9 iron for me.

The group we were playing was walking off the green and I yelled, “Are you guys 6 under yet?” They look backed and shrugged. As my friend Jeff was just walking off the green I struck my 9 iron. I was confident in the shot; so much so that I didn’t even let him get off the green. As soon as I hit the ball I knew it was going to be good.

I yelled to Jeff, “Is that good?” I expected it to be a tap in as it was rolling towards the hole. The next thing I knew it dropped in the cup for an eagle 2 on the par 4 ninth hole at Hasentree. Golf is a silly game. My 9th eagle was on the 9th hole at Hasentree and I hit a 9 iron. How can you not love it?

For those interested, I shot a 77 that day.

Let’s hope the next eagle comes sooner rather than later.
