What Golf Course was the First with Champion Bermuda Greens?

Champion Bermuda is the talk of the golf world these days; especially in the southern United States. More and more private country clubs in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and Florida are going to Champion Bermuda greens. So, what started this trend? What was the first golf course or country club to go to Championship Bermuda?

The first course to install Champion Bermuda was Woodlands CC – Tournament Course in Houston, Texas. With Champion Turf Farms being located in Bay City, Texas, it is no surprise that the first 20 or so Champion Bermuda courses were in Texas. There were a couple of early Florida, Arizona and Tennessee change overs, but in 1996 and 1997 most were in the state of Texas.
