Lesson #192 – December 1st, 2020

It was a Tuesday therefore it was a PKU backswing day and a day in which I was to play 18 holes. The high today was 45 degrees. When the sun was out, it wasn’t too cold. When the sun went behind the clouds, it was freezing.

Patrick started with the practice chipping motion with me closing my eyes and allowing the club face to lag behind the right pectoral muscle. When I do this I hesitate and allow all the pieces of the chip to get into the right place. After that we really focused on the right hip resisting while turning around with the left lat.

By the end of the lesson Patrick was starting to extend my left arm and I was getting a feel for the circle created by the body. I don’t want to think about it too much because I want to let everything fall into place at Patrick’s pace but it was interesting to feel him put my arms in the right place as I turned under with my body.

I hit some very good shots and went out to play. Once again, it was freezing cold. I still need to work on getting more depth on the backswing when I am on the course, but I had a lot of fun. By my back 9 I stopped worrying about trying to make the backswing perfect and just hit the ball. By the time I got to 16, 17 and 18 I was really starting to get a good shoulder turn while resisting with my right hip. I did not score well at all, but it doesn’t matter as I learned a lot about my swing and relaxed the mental part of the game.
