Lesson #193 – December 2nd, 2020

Today was Wednesday so it was a downswing day at PKU. We didn’t really talk about the backswing at all as we got right into the downswing. Patrick wants me to use my core to turn much more at the transition of the swing. He also wants me to re-establish the left knee right over the left toes while transitioning. After this, I am to leave the club face well behind me and definitely behind my right pectoral muscle. When leaving the club face behind me I am to turn under with my right lat and right side. Doing this naturally causes my right leg to turn towards the target.

Patrick really focused on my left knee and keeping the club face behind me. I am going to have to really work on my patience for this as I want to get the club to the ball as quickly as possible. I also noticed my left foot needs to work on planting and resisting rather than giving out at and after impact. I should feel it more on the inside of my left foot rather than the outside of my left foot at and after impact.

With the practice chipping motion, I am starting to feel more and more patience at the “top” of the swing. The more patient I am, the easier it is to keep the club face behind my right pectoral. This is a work in progress and I don’t want to think about it too much, but I am definitely feeling the set and rotation on the chipping motion. Now I just need to get that with the full swing which means I really have to work on keeping the club behind me and sustaining my left knee and left foot.
