Lesson #203 – December 22nd, 2020

Today was another backswing day at PKU. Patrick is now to the point where he will stand in front of me and hold my elbows as I turn with my body. It is crazy to think I have come so far in terms of flexibility. As he holds my elbows it feels like my body is very, very skinny. It basically feels like my body is much more narrow in my upper body. My hips to my shoulders feels like a pencil.

Patrick will continue to poke and prod my right side as I turn back as there are still moments that I want to lift with my right side. Patrick will also grab my right shoulder and completely open it as we get to the top of the backswing. Obviously, this is something I am not capable of doing so I simply leave it to him.

We had the brief conversation today about my previous need to try to figure things out by doing practice swings at home or even at the range. Now, especially since going to PKU for several months, I have zero desire to try to improve my swing without his assistance. I cannot put my body in the correct positions so why even try.

I have definitely gotten more flexible and my backswing has improved tremendously but there are still parts of the swing that Patrick has to fix and knead me to get the proper movement. This is why the golf swing is so very hard. I am hitting the ball better than ever and honestly have the desire to go play much more but the weather has been poor and golf courses are still packed because of Covid. Hopefully we get back to some normalcy in 2021 so I can go play golf by myself and take my swing to the actual course.
