Live Blog During Golf Tournaments

Tonight I took the time to live blog during the AMAs.  While this has absolutely nothing to do with golf it did prepare me for something I have always wanted to do – live blog during sporting events. I am one of those people that cannot sit still so I always have to be doing something when watching sports. While I would love nothing more than to just sit and consume the Masters, it is not going to happen. In the past I would go on Twitter or surf the web. Why not kill two birds with one stone by live blogging and enjoying the game of golf.

Over the course of the last four years I have watched thousands of hours of golf. I have played many more hours than I have watched but the amount of time I have spent listening to Jim Nantz, Nick Faldo, David Feherty, Johnny Miller, Dan Hicks and Roger Maltbie is quite ridiculous. I am one of those people that can get consumed in something. During the week of the Masters or the US Open I can honestly watch about 25 hours of golf.

If Tiger is playing well in a tournament I can watch every swing of all four rounds. If the Golf Channel cooperates I can analyze each and every reaction from Tiger. I would love to say that I could do the same for Rickie, Rory, Phil or another golf but that simply isn’t the case. Tiger is interesting to me because of his ups and downs. I also enjoy seeing greatness. While Rory has the potential to be one of the best golfers in history there is no way he is going to get close to 15 major championships.

I would love nothing more than to see Tiger get his game back together and win a few more major championships. I don’t think there is any way he can catch Jack at 18 but he can win one or two. While watching Tiger do his best to rebuild his golf swing I will be live blogging on this website.

The easiest way for me to do this is to update the blog with a timestamp of what I am watching. I am one of those people that loves to watch golf on DVR so it won’t have the same effect for all people. That said, they can still come back to the live blog post and see how I reacted to certain events that happened during the golf round. It will also be a way for me to keep a diary of watching golf. I am not certain why I did not do this in the past, but I learned from my mistake.

I would imagine the first tournament I will live blog is the 2014 Hero World Golf Challenge. The fact that it is a small field and Tiger will be playing will mean there is going to be plenty of entertainment. Feel free to join me during the live blog of any golf tournament during the PGA Tour and FedEx Cup season.
