Lesson #213 – January 14th, 2021

Today was a fun downswing day at PKU because we did both backswing and downswing without a club in my hands. I am getting so much better at allowing my upper right lat to be putty and turning with my core. On the downswing, Patrick really wants me to focus on the left shin really twisting against the turn of my upper body. He explained that my foot should feel like a kidney bean. What that means, I am not 100% certain.

I am definitely able to keep my right shoulder open and back as I turn through to the ball now. I am really starting to get the understanding of what lag is and how to get my hands in front of the ball at impact. It is fascinating that when you think your hands are in front of the ball, they are not really in front of the ball. It takes your stomach and hips being well ahead for you to lag the club with the hands in front.

I am definitely hitting the best golf shots of my life now. I know I am saying that with every single lesson, but it is now starting to sink in. I am also gaining a ton of distance and compression. I am still only hitting approach wedges but I am starting to get the confidence where I want to hit an 8 iron or 7 iron. We will see when that is part of the plan for Patrick. It is crazy to think this adventure is getting close to actually playing and addressing some of the really fine tuning with high skilled golf.
