Lesson #248 – March 25th, 2021

Today was an early lesson at PKU as I was driving to Chimney Rock and Lake Lure in the afternoon. Let’s just say that there is absolutely nothing in Chimney Rock, NC. Back to my golf swing. Patrick took a video of me face on and from behind and showed me something he hasn’t wanted to address because it was quite unique but it needed to be fixed. When I go back, during my takeaway, my head falls forward a long way. It falls forward well over a foot, then, I get to the top of my backswing and my head slides back to where it needs to be and I start the downswing. Patrick said it was amazing that I can have that much head and eye movement and still hit the ball. My hand-eye coordination is unbelievable to be able to strike the ball correctly with this much head movement.

Patrick told me it needs to feel like my left ear is making its way through my eye and to my right ear as I take the club away. He holds my head during the take away and it is completely different without all the eye movement. The swing feels much “smaller” or “shorter” because I am used to my head playing a game of the electric slide.

Patrick told me we need to get it to the point where my head movement is much smaller. It is a weird feel now but I am sure after about five more lessons it will feel much more efficient.
