Lesson #269 – May 5th, 2021

Today was another day of working on rhythm and being controlled on the backswing. I am definitely getting deeper and deeper but in a controlled way. Patrick continues to work on my backswing with the alignment stick across my chest and then with a driver. There are a lot of little tweaks he does that I don’t even think about.

Now I am realizing that the further back the left pectoral goes the more soft and relaxed the right side can be. So, the basic point is to keep turning and the right side will be in the correct place at the top of the swing. If the backswing gets short, the right side wants to pull up and problems occur. The longer we can get that left side to drive the softer the right side will end up.

I know my legs are not stabilizing and bracing the way they should but I cannot worry about that at the moment as it makes my backswing short. Over time my legs will naturally resist as my left pec turns around my body. When I think about my legs right now I shorten my turn. The turn is the most important part of the swing.
