Lesson #271 – May 11th, 2021

Today was my hardest lesson ever as I had to tell Patrick that Mikaila and I are not compatible anymore. While our trip to Vegas was a lot of fun, it was quite evident that she has moved on in a different direction in life. She is flying to Austin on Thursday to look for places to stay and she is simply a much different person than pre Covid.

I cried throughout much of the lesson as it hurts so bad to know that our old relationship is over. That is not to say something positive won’t happen in the future, but what we have now is over. Patrick was very accommodating as we just talked about everything related to Mikaila and I. After about 30 minutes of crying and talking I got back to the grind. We really didn’t add anything new as Patrick just worked on my backswing with the alignment stick across my chest and then with my driver.

I will say that my practice chipping motion has gotten really good. By making certain my stomach is sucking in and my hips are pulling back, I really use just my upper thoracic to rotate and chip the ball. I am actually very impressed with how well I hit the ball in the chipping motion; so much so that I am actually able to generate some speed without my hands and arms.

Patrick encouraged me to hit some full swing shots and I didn’t hit the ball well at all. I was a little quick with my transition and got short on some backswings. That is to be expected with the mental state I was in.

Now that I must move on from Mikaila I feel as if I will spend more time improving the aspects of my golf game I can control with is stretching and stability exercises. Overall, I need to have fun.
