Lesson #279 – May 26th, 2021

Today was my first day of not thinking while hitting golf balls. I wrote down my thoughts for each of my five chips and five full swings. I explained to Patrick that I have to do everything possible to not have swing thoughts. He agreed and said when he was playing he only thought of a distance or a number rather than a swing thought. I am not at that point yet as I need a topic.

He is simply amazing that I can talk in my backswing and actually hit the ball well. I told him this is the only way I cannot think. I need to talk. He said I should talk a little slower as I do get somewhat quick. That said, overall, it was one of my best ball striking lessons in a very long time.

Most of the lesson we worked on the backswing. He did add a little bit of tilt to my shoulders at the top of the backswing but this is not something I am even going to think about. I am going to let him tinker with my body and swing. We briefly did abou five downswing motions but nothing intense or serious.

My right knee is getting better with each lesson as my muscles are soft and my knee remains over my right toe. Eventually that knee will not move at all on the backswing. Once again, this is something I can think about only when training.

One more lesson this week and then the UNC women’s lacrosse team plays in the Final Four on Friday.
