Lesson #281 – June 1st, 2021

Today was an unusual day as I pulled into Knight’s Play and Patrick wasn’t there. This never happens. He called me and told me he was on his way from Wakefield Plantation. Brad Fritsch is playing in the Rex Hospital Open on the Korn Ferry Tour so he has been working with him hard these last few weeks. Patrick ended up getting to Knight’s Play around 2:15.

We really only got about 30 minutes of work in as Patrick AirDropped me some videos from the practice rounds and we just didn’t have an extremely focused lesson. I did hit the ball rather well. What we did work on was the downswing in which I really need to work on the crease on the left side and using my right side to work into and around the crease. I drop my right side, lift with my left side and change my angle. This is why I hit the ground behind the ball. Instead, I need to get to the top, slowly start the downswing and feel the crease into the left side and allow my right side to drive under.

It feels like my left side is actually staying ahead of my right arm and right elbow halfway down. In the past, I would just throw my arms at the ball. Now, I need to remain patient and let the left side continue through and get ahead of the right elbow. Easy enough.

Patrick is with Brad Fritsch the rest of this week so I might have a lesson on Friday but I might not. We shall see. The UNC women’s lacrosse team lost to Boston College in the Final Four and did not complete their undefeated and perfect season. Very sad.
