Lesson #285 – June 15th, 2021

After a very exhausting trip to Las Vegas it is time to get back to the grind. Today Patrick really wanted me to focus on the right crease. I often give this up and the backswing loses its torque. Unfortunately, when I try to keep the crease, I get short on my shoulder turn and backswing. It seems like a never ending battle. Do one thing well and another thing falls apart.

Patrick also worked on getting my left shoulder to stay down but the upper body needs to move towards the target and cover the ball. I hang back and spin with my left shoulder which is why I check mark. The left hand only practice exercise has really helped but now I need to work on rhythm, the right crease and completing my backswing.

I went out and played 9 holes. The three holes were average at best as I was not getting depth in my backswing. After getting depth on hole #4, I started to hit the ball much better. In fact, this was one of the first times I have ever gone out there and actually felt as if I got better as I played. It is usually the opposite. I start well and then slowly start to fall apart.

I am still doing 10 practice exercises with only my left hand on the club per hour. I am going to bump that up to 15 an hour next week if I do well this week. We shall see.
