Today was an extremely difficult lesson for me as I had to tell Patrick I have basically 0 confidence and absolutely no comfort when standing over the golf ball. I am over 2.5 years in and I am still hitting shanks and playing horrendous. I haven’t hit a golf ball off a fairway in over a year and a half and I have no clue where my driver would go. I don’t even want to take the head cover off.
I submitted my termination of membership at both Hope Valley and Hasentree. I did not tell Patrick this as he thinks I have the skills to be a good golfer but I don’t give myself a chance. I just don’t see it. When I try to hit a six iron I bounce the club off the ground and end up hitting the ball about 120 yards.
Patrick told me to work on going slower and trying to improve my rhythm. I did this with some shots and hit the ball ok with my approach wedge. Things still do not feel comfortable.
The only comfort I have right now is the fact that there is no deadline to play golf. I don’t know where I go from here but I do know that I won’t have any country club memberships as of the end of July 2021. Who could have guessed that on August 29th, 2018 that I would have basically given up country club golf because of golf lessons.
It is time to move on to a new hobby and accept that golf is just not the activity for me.
