Lesson #289 – June 23rd, 2021

Today was a day in which Patrick wanted me to go really slow on the take away with both the chipping motion and the backswing. I feel as if my take away is super fast; as if I can’t go slow even if I try. I can go slow after the take away and when he says, “turn, turn, turn”. It will take a lot of work to get the take away slower. It is amazing how much more I notice things when Patrick points them out when I go fast.

Now I know why golfers that swing fast and hard can never be consistent and good. They are using their hands and arms and will never really feel the big muscles of the back creating the backswing. It has taken me two and a half years and I am just now starting to understand the importance of going slow. I am definitely hitting the ball better when I go slow on the backswing.
