Lesson #291 – June 25th, 2021

We are continuing to work on rhythm and going slow with the take away. My shoulders were a little tighter today than the last few days so I really had to focus on going slow with the take away. The speed of the take away often becomes the speed of the transition. I am honestly shocked at how I can continue to turn and start my downswing super slow now.

Even Patrick mentioned that he has to readjust watching me hit golf balls because he is so accustomed to me jerking at the top of my backswing and now it is a very slow and smooth transition into the downswing. I hit some very, very good shots and it is fun to not try to create power.

Patrick mentioned the crease on the right side again but it is something I can only really think about when practicing with him. If I think about the right crease I will completely rush my take away and will not allow my turn to develop early. I can get the feel for the crease at the top but the shoulder turn and slow transition is still much more important at the present time. I know that sometime in the future the right crease will become extremely important but only after I have created a nice slow and smooth swing from beginning to end.

Patrick’s YouTube channel is really blowing up as he is getting about 40k views a day now. It is completely crazy. Today we did videos of him with a kid’s driver and with a wet impact bag. Fun times.
