Lesson #295 – July 12th, 2021

After quite a bit of time away in Park City it was time to get back to the grind. Patrick told me we were taking a different approach. The new approach is me doing the pitching motion that Keagan does. Patrick wants me to feel impact with a pitching motion and then work towards a full swing. This will give me all the shots I need to play a full round of golf from chipping, to pitching to full swing.

Patrick worked on my take away and getting me to soften up upper thoracic at the transition and into the downswing. The softer my shoulders are through impact, the better I will hit the ball. He also worked on my left elbow being softer.

On my first few attempts at the pitching motion I tried to hit the ball too hard and my hands and upper body ended up way too high. What I learned is I really need to stay low and finish low to get the feel for impact. I am trying not to think about it too much but the lower my hands and upper body are after impact, the better I am at impact. I try to lift with my arms and upper right side which is not good.

I ended up hitting a few very good pitch shots and it felt great. It is a much different feel than what I have been accustomed to for the past several months. Patrick was pleased and we discussed doing this again tomorrow to work towards a full swing.
