Lesson #297 – July 14th, 2021

Today was more focus on the pitching motion. I am starting to get a better feel of the swing finishing very low. Patrick continues to try to get me to keep my hands low and left elbow soft right at and after impact. The more I can feel my hands and arms staying low and in front of my chest, the better I hit the ball. It takes some reps just to get the feel for the swing to finish its speed so low after impact.

Patrick is very pleased with my progress this week. I have hit some really good pitch shots in the last two days. Today I was a little bit tighter because of a back and biceps workout but I am definitely getting the feel for the downswing motion.

Patrick also wants me to feel my left shoulder opening up as I start the backswing. The feel of going towards 5 o’clock after the take away allows me to open my shoulder. In essence, my left lat will open up and then I can do the “turn, turn, turn”.

It has been extremely hot and humid this week and that looks to be the case for the foreseeable future. It has been nice to have no interest in going to the UNC Finley driving range at all. All my energy and effort is going into the lessons with Patrick.
