Lesson #307 – August 2nd, 2021

As my backswing continues to improve, other issues arise. This has been happening for three years now. Who knows when we will actually have a finished product. Honestly, there still has not been a day I feel comfortable going out and playing 18 holes of golf since I started this process. Anyway, now my issue is my shoulders and upper body wants to slide forward to get to impact. When I do this I slide right across the ball and hit it dead left.

Patrick explained that the higher the center of your golf swing the more you will “choke” under pressure. Right now, I understand the golf swing, but my center is my head. On the backswing my head falls forward, it then slides all the way back during transition and then I slide it back forward on the downswing. When I do this, the result is a shot that is not even playable. Patrick was not worried about this at all as he said it will take time to keep my upper body “back” and allow my core to get through the ball on the downswing.

It can be extremely difficult and disheartening to think that I have put in over 300 lessons and given up golf for three years and I am still not able to put a swing on the ball in which the shot is even playable. That said, it is much easier today since I cancelled my two golf memberships. Honestly, I really have no clue when I will be comfortable standing over a golf ball with a driver in hand. Since August 28th, 2018 I have not had the comfort to think I can play a hole of golf from tee to green.

Fortunately, I have created other outlets and taken up other hobbies in life as golf is very much on the backburner. Especially actually playing 18 holes of golf. I have zero interest in doing that as of August 2021.

It is off to Park City, Utah to enjoy my last summer vacation. Honestly, it could not come at a better time as it will allow me to get away from golf and even thinking about hitting a golf ball. Who would have ever guessed that I would be so apathetic towards playing a round of golf?
