Lesson #309 – August 12th, 2021

It was blazing hot today so we really only got about 30 minutes of good work in, but it was a great lesson. We continued to focus on slowing down after the take away on the backswing with 60% of the weight on the left side. Patrick went a little bit deeper with my practice stretches. From the top, he really wants me to set the crease on the left side, drive into the crease with the right side and get through impact.

For the first time, I felt everything being condensed at impact. In the past I tried to throw my arms at it at impact. Instead, the upper body should turn around the lower body and get to impact. Something Patrick wants me to focus on is feeling my left elbow being soft and inside right after impact. The left elbow will fold and my right side will drive under and through. I have the habit of trying to stand up. Instead, I need to stay low, relax my left arm, especially my left elbow, and drive under with my right side.

At the top of the swing I feel a pull in my left tricep and my mid right obliques. I am sure these will get stretched out more and more as we continue to practice getting to and through impact. Hopefully we will have some cooler weather next week.
