Lesson #313 – August 19th, 2021

We are continuing to get deeper with the backswing as Patrick wanted me to do full swings today. Full swings are a little harder because I feel as if my weight starts to go off my left side and then I want to pull with my left side after the transition. I have gotten very good at the three quarters swing but the last bit of the full swing is going to be a bit more challenging. My biggest fault is pulling with the left hip instead of allowing my navel to drive towards the target after a smooth transition.

Patrick said that I do a good job of getting my navel moving but I can do it earlier if I want to. When I try to do it early I, once again, feel like I want to pull with my left hip and left legs. We are going to have to focus on the crease on the left side so I don’t pull with it. Overall, I hit some pretty good shots but we need hundreds of reps to get the pull out of the left side.

Once we get the pull out of the left side I think we will likely be in a place where I can start hitting a 6 iron or 5 iron and see where I stand. Most important is the slow take away and then smooth transition before allowing my navel to do the speed work.
