Lesson #316 – August 27th, 2021

Today was another day in which I was struggling with Swimmer’s Ear. It does not seem to be getting much better as it is extremely painful. That said, I am hitting the golf ball better than I ever have. So, there’s that. I am not able to give much mental effort into the lessons as I am just trying to get through this time.

Patrick continues to be impressed with my downswing as I am doing a great job of not pulling with the left side. It is crazy to watch the video of my swing as my left side stops about halfway down on the downswing and I then turn my upper body. This is not something I could have done a few weeks ago.

Putting 60% of the weight on my left foot on the take away and backswing has helped quite a bit when it comes to not “pulling” with the left side on the downswing. I know there is still plenty of work to be done but I definitely feel better about coming into the ball. The one thing I need to do better is not allow my arms to stay away from my body on the transition and downswing. If I can actually get them closer to my body on the downswing, I will hit the ball really well.

As it is, I still end up taking much of the divot outside where the ball is on the ground. It will be interesting to see how this changes over the course of the next few weeks.
