Why Does the Ring Finger on My Right Hand Hurt from My Golf Swing?

If you are like many amateur golfers you are likely hitting the golf ball improperly. Almost everyone that plays golf at the amateur level is doing something wrong in their swing. That is why we have days we simply cannot “find our swing”. Unfortunately, unless you have an unlimited budget and all the time in the world, you are always going to have problems with your swing. These problems likely cause different parts of your body to hurt. The most common part of the body that hurts after playing golf is the hands and fingers.

You will need a proper backswing if you want to reduce pain in your hands, back or legs in the golf swing. Here is the proper backswing:

Why is a 3 Iron or 4 Iron Hard to Hit for Amateur Golfers?

We have all been there. 195 yards into the green and ideally we would hit a 4 iron or 5 iron. We remember the last time we hit a 5 iron it went as far as our chip across the green back on #2. Instead of pulling a 4 iron or 5 iron we decide to hit a hybrid and hope it does not go too long. So, why is it that most amateurs cannot hit a 3 iron, 4 iron or 5 iron? If you struggle to hit long irons, golf instruction might be for you. I suggest contacting Patrick Kelley today.

Should I Drop My Back Shoulder on my Driver Setup?

With the Phil and Brady vs Tiger and Peyton matchup quickly approaching, many golf fans will be watching Phil Mickelson try to “hit bombs”. Phil is one of many Tour Pros that sets up with his back shoulder much lower than his lead shoulder when hitting a driver. You can clearly see it in this video:

If Phil does it, should you as well? Is dropping your back shoulder a way to hit your driver better and further?

How Does Cameron Champ Hit it So Far?

If you have watched some of the PGA Tour tournaments in October and November of 2018, you have likely seen Cameron Champ drill his driver over 400 yards on several par 5s. He has also averaged over 330 yards off the tee with a swing speed around 130 miles per hour. So, how does he generate so much speed and hit it so far?

Why Can’t I Hit My Driver Over 240 Yards?

Over the last several years, I have had to accept that I am going to be the shortest player in most foursomes. Not height wise, distance wise. I can stay in the fairway but my driver rarely goes over 230 or 240 yards. It can be frustrating at times and leaves me wondering what my score would be if I could actually hit my driver 250 or 260. So, why is it that some people cannot hit a driver over 240 yards?

Should You Be on Your Toes, Heels or the Balls of Your Feet in the Golf Swing?

Upon going through an entire swing change, the first step is often posture and the feel of your feet and legs when setting up to the golf ball. So, where should your weight be when you set up to the ball? We have all seen plenty of YouTube videos talking about keeping your feet flat and not lifting up the heels on your backswing. Does this mean you should have the weight on your heels or in the middle of your feet?

Should I Dip My Head When Hitting a Driver or Fairway Woods?

One of the hardest things to do for amateur golfers is to get power with a full swing while not dipping or dropping one’s head. For years, Tiger Woods fought the problem of dipping his head with his driver swing. If you can time it just right, it gives you amazing power but if you get caught at the top of your backswing it is going to cause you to miss a ton of fairways. So, should you dip your head when you come down with your driver swing?

Why Do I Heel My Driver But Not My 3 or 5 Wood?

Heeling the driver is something I have grown very accustomed to. Unfortunately, there are about two or three rounds a month in which I cannot get the ball in the middle of the club face and I hit a lazy fade that ends up only going about 220 yards. It is painful to play under these conditions as my home golf course can play extremely long. If you are only hitting a driver 220 yards on a 450 yard par 4 life can be extremely difficult. So, why is this the case?

What Irons Does Henrik Stenson Play – How Does He Hit Them So Crisp?

Henrik Stenson is one of the best iron “strikers” on the PGA Tour. His skill was on display in the 2016 Open Championship where he put on a clinic against Phil Mickelson. Many amateur and scratch golfers would love to strike their irons as well as Henrik does. So, how does he do it and what irons does he hit?

If I Can’t Draw a Driver, Should I Use a Regular or Women’s Shaft?

I am one of the few people that can admit they cannot hit a draw with a stiff shaft on a driver. I am not proud. I gladly play with a women’s driver and shoot in the 70s. I tried my damndest to figure out how to hit a draw with a stiff shafted driver and it would never turn over. One day, I was playing with a lovely young lady and decided to hit her driver. It was a nice five yard draw that went a mile. I was convinced.
